New Treasures

These are the latest additions to the treasury so to speak :-) The top photo is a hairvine made with glass pearls. the darker wire looks great on brunettes especially as it gives the illusion of the pearls just floating in the hair..
The middle photo is an alice band design and it is wrapped with tiny gold glass seed beads and freshwater pearls, a simple design that will suit most hairstyles.
The bottom design is one of my favourites because this particular stone (opalite) is is a bluish white- like ice, but it glimmers with an inner fire that can be seen when the light hits it. Very different and could even be used as the 'something blue' on your wedding day. It would probably look best with a white dress.
As with all of my tiaras and headbands etc, I use a softer wire as this makes the piece easier to fit to the head, and prevents the headaches that some of the more rigid designs can cause when worn all day.

A Matching Set

This is a matching set (headband, earrings and hairpins) I recently made for a bride to be in the south of Ireland. It's a very feminine design made to catch the light with silver glass seed beads and swarowski crystal, and sparkles beautifully.

Wedding Fair

Less than 2 weeks to go now to my first ever wedding fair! I am a little bit nervous but then it is perhaps better to be a little nervous rather than over- confident.. There will be around 30 other exhibitors at this particular fair, and from what I have heard it gets a lot of footfall so hopefully some of those feet will walk to my stand :-)
The fair is on Sunday 1st of March from 2pm-6pm in the An Gríanan hotel near Letterkenny. It is a very pretty part of the country and only a few minutes from 'Ghríanan of Aileach', a 5000 year old hillfort with 360 degree views of the Inishowen Peninsula and surrounding countryside. Whoever built that fort knew what they were doing!

...And Pretty Maids all in a Row..

These latest additions to my blog started off as an experiment and ended up working out very well for hair accessories. The top photo shows a trio of pretty beaded flower hairpins. These are made with ivory delicas and out lined with silver in the flower to the left, champagne in the centre flower and no outline in the 3rd flower. For the bride that likes a simple look, these flowers work very well on their own, and can just as easily compliment a matching comb/ tiara.

The second photo shows a bouquet of flowers on a comb. For the bride who wants something different, this bouquet shape also works extremely well as a boutonniere (buttonhole flower), and a keepsake for the mothers of the bride and groom for example.
